As we unfold the pages of yet another eventful year, I bow in reverence to our esteemed founder, Dr K. M. Munshi, whose vision of “Transformation through Education” continues to inspire us. At Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya , we remain steadfast in upholding his ideals through our enriching and joyful educational journey.It is with immense pride and honour that I present the Annual Report of Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad, for the academic year 2025–2026,a year distinguished by glorious achievements and memorable milestones.

MILESTONES OF ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

Our students once again made the school proud by achieving outstanding results in both SSE and SSCE, reflecting their commitment, perseverance, and pursuit of excellence.

In the Class X examination, all 158 students who appeared brought glory to the institution by securing 100% results. Of these, 153 students secured Distinction. It is commendable that 26 students achieved A1 grades in all subjects .

Equally commendable were the results of Class XII. Out of 144 students who appeared, 137 secured Distinction and  37 students achieved A1 grades in all subjects .Our students secured centums in Mathematics ,AI ,Malayalam,Hindi , Sanskrit and Social Science in SSE  .

In  SSCE our students secured Centums in Accountancy, Artificial Intelligence, Business Studies ,Chemistry, Computer Science,Economics ,Informatics Practices ,Physics ,Psychology and Mathematics .

WITH HONOUR WE HOSTED

The school had the honour of hosting several prestigious events,each  organised with great precision and executed  flawlessly.

?    The XXVII All Kerala Bhavan’s Cultural Fest 2025 for Categories II and III was held .The event was inaugurated by Shri K. Jayakumar IAS. The Valedictory Function was graced by Smt. Poornasree Haridas and Shri Jithin Raj, renowned playback singers.A total of 31 Bhavan’s schools from across Kerala, comprising 1,056 students, participated in the prestigious fest.

?    The 41st Dr. K. M. Munshi Athletic Meet 2025 was successfully conducted with commendable spirit and excellent coordination. Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya, as a co-host along with Bhavan’s Eroor, proudly organized this prestigious event on 21 and 22 November 2025.

?    Labyrinth OBSCURA 2025, an inter-school Literary and Yoga competition, was hosted by the school and witnessed enthusiastic participation from 19 schools across Kochi, with nearly 300 students competing in seven events. The event was inaugurated by acclaimed filmmaker Shri Jayaraj. The celebrations concluded with a grand valedictory function graced by renowned musician and Asianet Star Singer Season 9.0 winner, Sri Aravind D. Nair.

?    The state level inauguration of the Love Plastic campaign by Mathrubuhmi SEED was held at the school. It was inaugurated by the renowned Director ,Sathyan Anthikad followed by a handbook release by Shri Anilkumar ,Mayor,Kochi.

?     The school hosted the Kochi Sahodaya School Complex Merit Evening to honour the toppers in the CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 examinations. More than 100 students from 52 CBSE schools under the Kochi Sahodaya were felicitated during the event. The Chief Guest, Smt. Elizabeth Susan Koshy,Assistant Commandant of KAP 1 Battalion, Thripunithura, inaugurated the function.

?    The launch of the campaign ‘Oru Thai Nadam’ at the school level , organized by Mathrubhumi SEED in collaboration with the Haritha Keralam Mission, marked the observance of International Nature Conservation Day. The initiative ,hosted by the school,was inaugurated by Ms. Parvathy Gopakumar, IAS, Assistant Collector, Ernakulam.

?    The launch of TiE Young Entrepreneurs  Kerala Chapter was hosted by the school. On this occasion, the winning teams of the TYE Global Finals 2024–25 were felicitated for their outstanding achievement and entrepreneurial spirit.

?    The school hosted STEM -DLD for Science  and Maths teachers representing different schools across the city.The key note address was done by Smt Pranav Prabha (team lead and Research Project manager) and the other resource persons were Smt Jyothi P ,Vice Principal ,Smt Seema C ,Teacher ,Dept.Of Computer Science and Smt Remya M Menon ,ATL Incharge .

SHIKSHAN BHARATI COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION

The two-day Annual Shikshan Bharati Comprehensive Evaluation 2025–26 was conducted to help teachers upgrade their skills and reflect on their work. This year, it was held under the guidance of Smt. Vijayalakshmi N A , Education Officer, Kochi Kendra.

SIGNIFICANT DAYS

The campus buzzed with colour and cheer as each festival was celebrated in a delightful palette of tones and moods. Important days were observed with great enthusiasm and spirit — from World Environment day, Guru Poornima ,National Science Day, Onam, World Heart Day, Women’s Day, Hiroshima Day, Teachers’ Day, Sanskrit Day, International Yoga Day, Van Mahotsav, Independence Day, Navaratri,Founder’s day  to Quit India Day, and many more. 

BEYOND ORDINARY –  A TALE OF TRIUMPH AT BHAVAN’S FEST

The Bhavan’s Fest Championships stood as a testament to the indomitable spirit of our students who went beyond ordinary to carve tales of triumph. The youngest participants in Category 1 performed commendably, scoring 44 points to clinch the Championship Title. In Category 2, the school emerged as the Overall Champions with an impressive 91 points. Our team in Category 3 continued the winning streak by securing the Championship Title with 147 points, while Category 4 achieved a remarkable 179 points, emerging as Champions once again. Marking a historic moment of pride, our school achieved a hat-trick of championships in Categories 1 to 4 and Categories 1 to 5, clinching the Overall Championship Trophies for the third consecutive year—a shining reflection of unparalleled excellence, teamwork, and dedication.

BHAVANS JYOTHI

Shivani Gireesh Menon (X) was adjudged Bhavan’s Jyothi. She secured the First  prize in Malayalam Recitation  and Mohiniyattam .

BHAVAN’S ADARSHA VIDYALAYA MAKES HISTORY WITH A HAT-TRICK VICTORY AT MUNSHI MEET!

 

Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya has achieved a landmark feat at the 41st Dr. K. M. Munshi Athletic Meet 2025, where the school secured the Overall Championship Trophy for the third consecutive year, marking a proud hat-trick victory.

 

?    Adwitha V S (VI)emerged as the Individual Champion in the Sub junior girls  category.

?    Agnivesh S. Nair (X)emerged as the Individual Champion in the Senior boys category.

?    The school secured the Team Championship in both the Sub Junior Girls and Boys categories.

ADARSHITES  SHINE BRIGHT AT SAHODAYA

?    Bhavan's Adarsha Vidyalaya secured the 1st Runner-up trophy in the  Kochi Sahodaya School Complex Kalotsav.

?    At the CBSE State Sahodaya Kalotsav, eight of our students secured prizes in various events, bringing laurels to the school.

IN HONOUR OF EXCELLENCE

?      The school received the ATL School of the Month Award from NITI Aayog.

?      The school received the Best Institution Award ( district level) under the Young Innovators Programme (YIP)  organized by the Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council (K-DISC).

?      The school earned the Second Runners-Up title in Mathrubhumi SEED.

?      The school was awarded a Certificate of Recognition for its outstanding performance and exceptional commitment to the “Love Plastic 2.0” project during the 2024–25 academic year.

LAURELS WON AT THE INTER-SCHOOL FIESTAS

?      In Samskr?itotsavam, held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Poochatty, the school emerged   as the champions in Category 1 and Category 3, securing the Overall Championship with an impressive 117 points.

?      The school won the Overall Trophy for the TocH Oratorical Eloquence.

?      Meera S (XII) won the First Prize in Carnatic Music at the International Music Competition, the Malaysia International Carnatic Music Fest.

?      The School team comprising Parvathi S(XII)  ,Vasudev G Pai,(XII),Vipesh Shankar Pillai(XII ),Jooash Jino John(XII) & RohanThomasThomas(XII )won the 'Best Teamwork' Award in the Tie Young Entrepreneurs Global Competition held at Amity University, Noida.

?      In the Science Exhibition conducted as part of the MANAK Carnival by BIS, Kochi, at Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Girinagar, our school team secured the Second Prize. They received a cash prize of Rs. 4,000/- and certificates.     

?      In the Gita Chanting Competition conducted by the Chinmaya Mission, Nirupama A. Menon (IV) won the  Second Prize at the State level with a cash award of ?3000. She has been selected for the National-level Gita Chanting Competition, which will be held in Pune.                                 

?      Dev Achintya of (II) secured the First Prize in the India Spelling Bee 2024–25 National Championship.

?      Jhanvi Sreejith  (IV)won  two gold medals in Ekm District Karate Tournament and a Silver Medal in Kata at the South India Karate Championship .

?      Vasudev Gireesh Menon (VII) won a Gold Medal in Boxing at the State Amateur Kick Boxing Championship.

?      Rahul R (VII) secured the Overall Trophy in the Junior category and was recognized as the top scorer across all categories, contributing to the remarkable achievement of winning 17 prizes in the Navarathri competitions organized by Ernakulam Karayogam, TDM Hall.

?      Niranjana Ratheesh  (VI) won the International Kids  Icon Award 2025 in the Arts and Creativity category.

?      Madhav Maneesh (VI) performed the Jumbo Card Cut and Restoration’ magic act and set a world record in the IndoWorld Book of Records.

?      Gauri R. Nair  ( IX ) won a Gold Medal in Taekwondo at the 20th South West India Championship 2025 .

?      Ved Arun Nair  (V) won a Gold Medal in Taekwondo at the 20th South West India Championship 2025.

?      Gauri Menon ( IV) won a Gold medal in the 9-year Girls Kata event, a Gold medal in the 6–13 years Team Kata event, and a Silver medal in the 9-year Girls Kumite event at the 28th All India Shitoryu Karate Championship 2025.

?      Cyrus Eldho ( VI) was adjudged the Champion in the chess tournament conducted by the Ernakulam Chess Association.He  secured the First Runner-Up position in the Ernakulam District Sub-Junior (Under-15) Open Chess Championship and qualified to represent Ernakulam district in the  Kerala State Under-15 Chess Championship 2025. He also  secured Third position  in the Kerala State Under-13 Open Chess Championship 2025 and was  selected to represent Kerala in the National Under-13 Open Chess Championship 2025.

?      Riann James George  (X ) secured the First Prize in the Quiz Competition of INFINITUM 2025 by NIT Calicut.

?      Joel George ( XII) was adjudged the school  topper in the  International Commerce Olympiad.

?      Dhwani C K (VI) won a Silver Medal in Taekwondo at the 21st  Ernakulam District Taekwondo Championship.

?      K B Avyang  (V) secured the 1st Runner Up position in the South and Central Regional Prodigy competition conducted by SIP Abacus.

?      Devna Krishna (IV), Ankita Jinesh (V), and Sanvi D. Jith (V) achieved 1st Rank in the Hindi Sugama Exam 2024–25 conducted by the Hindi Prachar Sabha, while Madhavi Menon (VIII) secured 3rd Rank in the same examination.

?      Abhinav Vijay (VII)  and Ishan Biju (IV) successfully swam across the Periyar during the Swimming Camp organised by the Valasseril Swimming Club.

?      The school  also won First Runners-up Trophies in the  inter school events like Krithi ,Nadhanirjhari and Magnum Opus.

SPORTS LAURELS

?      Our students brought glory to the school at the Ernakulam District Athletics Meet and the CBSE Athletic Meet .Several participants qualified for the Nationals, with a special mention to Afreen Shakeel (XII), who won the Gold Medal in Long Jump at the CBSE National Athletic Meet held at Varanasi, bringing great pride to the school.

?      The school emerged as Runners-up in the Under-14 Girls category and 2nd Runners-up in the Under-18 Girls category at the District Athletics Meet.

?      The school team secured the 1st Runner-up position in the CBSE Cluster XI Volleyball Tournament (Under-17 Girls).

?      In the Cluster XI Kabaddi Tournament, the school secured the First Runner-up position in the U19 Girls and Boys categories, the Second Runner-up position in the U17 Boys category, the First Runner-up position in the U17 Girls category, and the Second Runner-up position in the U14 Boys and Girls categories. 

 TEACHERS WHO EXCELLED

?    Smt. Seema C, Dept. of Computer Science was awarded the Bhavan’s Kulapati Munshi Best Teacher Award.

?    Smt. Deepa Varghese ,Dept. Of Commerce received the Professional Excellence Award instituted by the Commerce Teachers’ Forum.

?    Smt Karthika N,Dept. of Chemistry received   the Uma Thomas MLA award for the  Best Teacher.

?    Smt Manju V ,Dept. of Biology  received  the best teacher  Co-ordinator award as part of Mathrubuhmi Seed Club.

?    Ms. Delna Denny , Dept. of Computer Science secured the Third Prize and a cash award of ?2000 in the AI Tool Demonstration Competition held at Vidyodaya School.

?    Smt. Kavita P. V, Dept. of  Physical Education Department, secured the First Prize in Discus Throw and the Second Prize in Javelin Throw at the National Athletic Meet held at Maharaja’s Ground.

?    In the Vidyodaya Annual Inter school Camp 2025 Shri Jilin K Joy ,  Department of Malayalam, received the Best Accompanying Teacher Award and Smt Athira Anil,Department of Social Science  won the first prize  for the fastest cross country runner.

 SESSIONS THAT INSPIRED

?      In a commendable initiative, the school organized a series of awareness sessions on cybersecurity, career guidance, drug abuse and prevention etc. These sessions equipped students with the knowledge and skills to make safe, informed, and responsible choices, fostering awareness and readiness for the future.

LEARNING TO LEAD – TEACHERS AS LIFELONG LEARNERS

 

?    Smt. Kalyani Sreekumar, Principal, attended the XVI All India Conference of Bhavan’s Principals on the theme “Expanding Horizons Without Losing Roots” held in Amritsar.She also attended  a webinar organized by Bhavan’s Research and Development Centre ,BVB Kochi on ‘Strategic and Purpose-Driven Leadership: Navigating Disruption and Creating Impact Through Vision and Values along with Vice Principal Smt Indu S . The webinar was led  by the distinguished resource person Dr. Vijayam Ravi.

?     Vice Principals Smt. Indu S , and Smt. Jyothi P attended the Exclusive Master Trainers’ workshop conducted under the Behavioural & Emotional Enrichment Programme – Mission Better Tomorrow and they, along with Assistant Vice Principal Smt. Sindu C. Nair, attended a session on ‘Being life long learners’  by  Dr. Arun Surendran, Strategic Director and Principal of Trinity College of Engineering, Trivandrum.

?    Smt Sindu C Nair ,Assistant Vice Principal, attended a session on ‘AI for Visionaries -Enabling Stem Education in Schools. The session was led by Dr.Shailesh Sivas.She also  served as a Resource Person for Mathematics (Secondary STEM – Domain 2) at Sree Sankara Vidyalayam, Vaikom.

?    Smt. Indu S, Vice Principal, and Smt. Varsha R Faculty,Dept. of Maths attended the 2-day Training of Trainers (ToT) Certification Course organized by the Institute of Secretariat Training and Management (DoPT), Government of India.

?    Smt Jyothi P,Vice Principal  served as  the Resource Person in CBP Physics  for Sr.Secondary Teachers at Baker Higher Secondary School ,Kottayam .She , along with Smt Jaya Jacob,Coordinator, Bhavan's Research wing, visited The Centre of Creative Learning,IIT Gandhinagar. 

?    The academic year witnessed extensive participation by the teachers of Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya in various professional development and capacity-building programmes. including the two-day Annual Professional Training at Bhavan's Munshi Vidyashram led by experts from RIE Mysuru and  global 3030 Eklavya STEM workshop.  Teachers also attended  subject specific workshops .

CLUBS AND HOUSES

 

The various clubs of the school were inaugurated by Smt. Rekha Joly, Communication and Marketing Specialist, marking the beginning of another year of vibrant and meaningful initiatives fostering holistic development. The school’s house system, comprising eight houses further nurtures creativity, innovation, logical thinking, and teamwork.

 

QUIZ

The school quiz teams emerged as champions and runners-up and also received cash prizes at various quiz competitions such as Inquizit, Brainwracker Quiz, Quizeta Saggezza , MindSpark, and  Wild Wisdom Global Challenge

NCC &SCOUTS AND GUIDES

The NCC Wing of Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya functions actively with 102 cadets—50 in the Junior Division and 52 in the Senior Division—instilling discipline, leadership, and service. Likewise, the school’s Scouts and Guides unit, comprising 52 Guides and 26 Scouts from Classes V to IX, actively upholds the values of teamwork and community service through various social and environmental initiatives.

INTERACT CLUB

The Interact Club at Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya empowers students to serve their communities, lead with purpose, and uphold the Rotary ideal of “Service Above Self.”The  Club has  launched the Reading Proficiency Initiative for students of Classes II–V who require support in enhancing their reading skills.

NEW ADDITIONS TO THE CAMPUS

Significant infrastructural enhancements were made this year, including the installation of solar panels to promote clean energy and the addition of a new 35 seater bus to strengthen school transportation facilities.

 ECO INITIATIVES

Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya, known for its lush campus and sustainable practices, continues its green journey through the Nature Club. In line with the World Environment Day 2025 theme “Beat Plastic Pollution,” students participated in various competitions.  Ongoing initiatives include a digital biodiversity album, cloth and seed ball making, and maintaining vegetable and rose gardens. OUTREACH PROGRAMMES

Under the ‘Snehasparsham’ initiative, the Sanskriti Club organized compassionate outreach activities, collecting items worth one and a half lakh rupees. The team distributed provisions, medicines, and essentials to the Pain and Palliative Care Unit (Ernakulam General Hospital), Sree Poornathrayeesa Vridhasadanam, Tripunithura, Santhwanam Ammaveedu, Kangarapady, and Shri Theruvoram Murugan. Onakkodi and Onam Kits were also distributed.

LIBRARY

Our library is a vibrant hub of reading, learning, and research for both students and teachers. With a diverse collection of 15,627 books, it caters to academic, recreational, and reference needs. The library also subscribes to 15 magazines and 2 daily newspapers. Fully automated with Koha software, it ensures efficient cataloguing, circulation, and resource management, making information access seamless and user-friendly.

ATL

The Atal Tinkering Lab nurtures creativity, curiosity, and a problem-solving mindset among students of Classes VI to X through hands-on STEM learning. Students explore design thinking, basic electronics, and digital modelling while developing prototypes and simulations that connect science and technology to real-world applications.

 SPECIAL EDUCATION AND STUDENT WELLNESS CENTRE

The team of Special Educators functions effectively, catering to 67 students who require additional academic support under the guidance of three specially trained teachers and two professional counsellors. The school counsellors play a vital role in promoting students’ overall well-being by conducting awareness sessions, arranging individual interactions, and recommending therapies wherever necessary. SMART PRACTICES

Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya has launched innovative initiatives for holistic student development, including the Sugar Board and Oil Board Projects for health awareness, the ‘I Create, I Learn’ programme for creativity and  the PTA’s Spoken English Initiative.

Zero Period has been effectively  utilised to   promote  reading, journal writing, and language fluency across all classes. Students also showcase their talents in Talent Symphony, and Class Cultural Day offers opportunities for every student to perform, fostering confidence, creativity, and stage experience.

EDUCATIONAL TOURS

?      Students were taken on educational tours that allowed them to explore new environments, appreciate nature, and foster creativity, critical thinking, and personal growth beyond the classroom.

?      A group of 30 students from classes 8,9 &11 and two teachers attended a residential camp at the Bhavan’s Nature Adventure Centre (BNAC), Mumbai—a distinguished unit of the Bhavan’s fraternity and an official partner of the United Nations Decade on Biodiversity.

?      In the Vidyodaya Annual Inter-School Camp 2025, 8 students of Class 8 participated, accompanied by two teachers, and the school team received the Best Team Award.

 PTA ENDEAVOURS

The PTA of our school continues to extend wholehearted support to all school initiatives. They honoured students who secured A1 grades in the SSE and SSCE examinations and contributed towards the conveyance expenses of nine students who represented the school at the National Sports Meet held at Varanasi. Communicative English sessions are conducted every Thursday to enhance students’ language proficiency, alongside various awareness sessions on relevant topics. The PTA sponsored payasam for all students during the Onam celebrations and also sponsored  jerseys for the participants of  Munshi Meet.

 ALUMNI

The school’s alumni, as goodwill ambassadors and resource persons, continue to play an active role in supporting various school initiatives. A friendly football match was organised, strengthening bonds and reflecting the enduring Bhavan’s spirit.
