Annual Report


Namaste and Good evening to you all.
As we head towards the closing of session2018-2019, I feel very proud and happy to present before you, the annual report of Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya, which highlights the saga of achievements and accomplishments of our students. Many milestones have been achieved and many still have to be achieved. We, atAdarsha, will continue our unceasing efforts to adhere to the ideals of the great visionary Dr.K M Munshi in moulding the young minds into well balanced personalities with confidence and zeal befitting the standards of this portal of education.
I wish to begin with our performance on the academic front. Excellence in academics is the hall-mark of any good institution and the class X & XII results of the school prove without an iota of doubt that our students have made us proud.
The AISSE and AISSCE results were, as expected, excellent and motivating. Our school recorded 100% pass for both AISSE and AISSCE. Of 147 students who registered for the AISSE,15 students secured A1, 105students secured distinction and 39 students got first class. The number of students who secured A1 in English was 88, 40 in Mathematics, 60 in Science, 39 in Social Science, 17 in Malayalam, 15 in Sanskrit and 11 in Hindi.
 Nikhil Sreeraj was the School Topper with 97.8%.
And of 136 students who appeared for the AISSCE, 16 students secured A1 in all subjects,   103 secured distinction and 33 got first class.
Emil Titus was the topper in the Science stream (97%), Gopika Jayachandran was the topper in the Commerce stream (97%) and Bhadra Poornima Rajesh was the topper in the Humanities stream (94%).

In order to create democratic awareness among students, we organized a general school parliament on lines of General Elections prevailing in the country. Following students were elected as the office bearers for the academic year 2018-19.
The Investiture Ceremony saw Nikhil Biju Menon as Senior Head Boy and Nidhuna Narayan as Senior Head Girl.Other captains for the school council were also elected.

The Shikshan Bharati Team headed by Smt Meena Viswanathan,Education Officer, BharatiyaVidya Bhavan,Kochi Kendra, conducted the Annual Comprehensive Evaluation on 4th October 2018.As per the report, the overall performance of the school was excellent.
Competitions inculcate the spirit of positive challenges and sportsmanship among the students and prepare them for the life ahead. Our students actively participated in different competitions and brought laurels to our school.
In the Literary Fest ‘Esparanza‘,conducted by Chinmaya Vidyalaya Kannamaali,Darshana P R of Class XII secured the 1st prize for the Ensayo,the Essay writing competition.
In the Cryptic Crossword Contest, the school team consisting of Gouri Pisharody and Amal Nambiar of Class X won the 1st prize and a citation for the school.The same team participated in the Grand Finale of the Annual National-Level Inter-School CCCC Cryptic Crossword Contest. Among 40 schools across the country, we got qualified and was one among the 16 chosen schools for the quarter finals.
In the Under 18 Ramayana Parayanam Competition conducted by the Malayala Manorama, Aswathy Binoy secured the 3rd position with a cash prize of Rs 3000/-.
In the Sanskrithothsavam conducted by Chinmaya International Foundation, Niranjan Warrier  secured the first prize in Sanskrit recitation.
In the Bhagavathgeetha Jayanthi conducted at Amritha Vidyalaya, Neeraja secured the second prize with a cash prize of Rs 2000/-.
Sradha A Nair of class IV wasadjudged as Kerala’s singing superstar 2018 conducted by Max Kids’ Festival.
The following prizes were won in the’ Nadanirjhari’ , Music, Mridangam and Tabala Competition, conducted by Vidyodaya School, Thevakkal.
Vishal A.J of Class VI and Meera S of Class V secured the first prize for Carnatic Music in the sub junior boys and girls category respectively. Niranjan Warrier of class VII D bagged the third prize for Carnatic Music in the junior boys category.
Ananthakrishnan T.J of class IX won the third prize for Mridangam in the junior boys category.
In the DROMOS 2018, Interschool Arts and Cultural fest, conducted by Marthoma Public School, the following prizes were won:
Hridhya Harish Nambiar (Std IX) and Anand .S.Nair (Std X)have won the 1st prize and a cash prize of Rs. 500/- each in the girls and boys categories respectively.A team of participants comprising Vishal S G, Nived N Kumar, Niranjan Warrier, Meera S, S Hridhya Menon and Devasena Menon won the 1st prize and a cash prize of Rs. 1500/- in the Surtal,Nadanpattu competition.Prashanthi Pramod and Angel Jose won the  2ndand 3rd prizes respectively in Rangtarang.
Aishwarya Rajeev secured the Second prize with a cash prize of Rs10,000/- in the Fun Umbrella Painting Competition held at Kochi Marriott.
Our school team won the second prize for the Western Music Competition ‘Rock and Roll’ in Vista, conducted by Rajagiri Public School.
Sreepriya and Rithu (Std XII) secured the second prize for the split dance competition ‘Devaragam’ VOX-2018 conducted by Vidyodaya School, Thevakkal.
In the All India Music Contest conducted by Sangam Kala Group, Meera S secured the 2nd position in Light music and Consolation prize with the 5th position in the Film song category in the State level.
Aleena Shaji of Class XI won the 2nd prize for Cartooning.
In the Sree Rama Gaanaalapanam conducted by Ernakulam Kshethrakshema Samithi,Nirupama N secured the 3rd prize with a cash prize of Rs 500/-
In the Inter-school, Inter-college competition, Visishta, conducted by Bhavan’s College of Arts and Commerce, our team won the second prize for Mime. The team members were Prithvi, Fahim, Adnan, Sudheerth Thampan, Aditya Suresh, Abhinav Anilkumar, Vishnunath, Chris Haris and Sachin D. In the same competition, Avani T R of Class IX won the second prize for Zen doodling competition.
In the Fringes 2018, conducted by Choice Public School, Thripunithura, our school team bagged the second prize for the One-Act play. The team members were Dhwani M S Potty, Aravind, Aleena Mary Karatre, Gauri Santosh Pisharody, Amal Nambiar, Aleena Shaji, Nitin A P, Adithya Anil, M Krishnan, Stefin, Abraham and Jeevan.
In the Aesthethika competition held at St Paul’s Public School, Kizhakkambalam,  Abhinav Maheshwar of class IV secured the first prize for painting with a cash prize of Rs 1500/- , Malavika of class II won the third prize for painting and Angel Jose of class VII won the third prize for water colouring.
In the Niracharth painting competition conducted by KLH Foundation, Abhinav Maheswar of Class IV secured the second position.
In the Recitation competition held at Sanskrit College, Tripunithura, Anjali Anilkumar of Class IX bagged the first prize, Vishal S J of Class VI secured the second prize and Samika Ren of Class VII won the third prize.
In the Tech Ed Fest conducted by Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala our students bagged prizes. In Virtuoso we secured the first prize .The team members were   M Krishnan (XI), Marc Abraham (XI), Stephin Tomson (X) and Abraham Johann Oommen (IX). In the App design, Ankith S Bhaktha (XII), Nouman Ali (XII) and Lena Mathew (IX) won the second prize.In ‘Design your string’ also we won the first prize. The team members were Thomas V.K (IX) and Ashwin V (IX).
Aiswarya Ramesh and Samuel Joy Padamadan of Class X secured the best Project Pitch and Best Business Potential with a cash prize of Rs 5,000 each in Adishankara Asianet Young Scientist Award 2018.
Krishnapriya J, Hridya, Adith Krishna and Adithya Rama Varma bagged the Second prize in the Science Exhibition ‘INDRIYA ‘held at Model Engineering College. They also won a cash prize of Rs 2,500 /-
Parvathy Vinod of class X won the 2nd Prize in the Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan conducted by Saraswati Vidyanikethan.
In the Science Exhibition ‘Tinker Fest’ conducted by BVM, Girinagar, Achuth Krishna and Niranjan Warrier M won the second prize for ‘Student Maker’ category 1.
Karthik R Pai and Aravind G Ashok secured the first prize for ‘Student Maker’ category 2. Karishma, Lakshmi B, Gauthami Unnikrishnan and Anaswara Ramesh bagged the first prize for ‘Studentprenuer’ category 1.
In the Science Exhibition of the National Technical Festival conducted by Manipal Institute of Technology, our school team secured the first prize. The team members were Gauri Santosh Pisharody, Ananth Anand, Karthik R Pai, Achuth Krishnan J, Anaswara Ramesh, Neeraja Jayan, Aiswarya Ramesh, Anjali Jayan, Sivani Sreeni, Gauthami Unnikrishnan, Adithya Ramavarma and Karisma.
Our team secured the semi-finalist position in the SCMS PPTIA 18 and secured a cash prize of Rs 5000/- . The team members were Athena M, Hridya, Arundhathy Krishna and Shivani.
In the National Science Congress, three teams from our school got selection at the District level and participated in the State level at Calicut. The team members were Aiswarya Ramesh, Anjali Jayan, Krishnapriya J, Athena M, Amogh D Nair and Achuth Krishna.
Jeevan Joseph and Aditya Anil  secured the third position in DEFACTO conducted as part of Excel 2018 at Govt.Model Engineering College. They also received a cash prize of Rs.3000/-.
In the National Research Genius Examination, Srinidhi B scored 94.1 percentile for the mains and 92.9 percentile for advance exam. She also secured gold medal for the same.In the same competition, Karthik R Pai scored 97.1 percentile for the mains and also secured a gold medal.
In Dhishna – 19 at CUSAT, Krishna Raj of class IX  secured second prize for presentation competition on Disaster management .He also won a cash prize of Rs 3000/- , an exclusive entry to all competitions of Dhishna 19 and workshop worth Rs 1200/- and a specially designed Dhishna 19, T-shirt.
In the Jet Toy Challenge Competition conducted by Mahindra & Mahindra at Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology, Kochi, our school team secured the winner prize in the presentation event,distance track event and speed track event .The team members were Bhadra Mahesh, Anirudh Manoj, Aditya Dinesh and Atlin Jacob Cherian.
In the Young Innovators Programme conducted at Trivandrum, our four projects were among the top ones out of the sixty projects which were shortlisted for the finals .The team members were Kartik R Pai,Aditya RamaVarma, Gauri Santosh Pisharody and Krishnapriya J.
Both of our school teams got qualified for the CBSE National Level Science Exhibition to be held at Noida in the month of February.
The following students participated and won certificates of Zonal Excellence in SOF Science National Olympiad.
Krishna Sudhir got rank 15 in the zonal level of SOF International Company Secretaries Olympiad.
Gauri S Pisharady got rank 16 in the zonal level of SOF NSO.
Suha Nazrin got rank 12 in the SOF IEO.
Srinidhi S got rank 7 in the SOF IMO. She also received a gift voucher worth Rs.1000.
In the Maths Talent Search Examination conducted by Kerala Ganitha Shastra Parishad our students secured A1 and were honoured with certificates.
In the SAAVISHKAR competition, our school team secured A grade for Maths working model, Maths Still model and Quiz. The team members of Working model were Aleena Ginu,GreeshmaAnna,Neha P Santosh and Aswathy V S.The team members of Still model were Gautham J,S Gokul Raj and Vysakh.Anagha V and Duva Felix were the members of the Quiz team.
In the Sugama Hindi Examination conducted by Kerala Hindi Prachar Sabha, Gauthami Unnikrishnan secured the second rank in the District Level.
Other competitive exams like Bhavan’s scholarship, Bhavan’s Spell Bee, Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan and MTSE were conducted.
In the Yoga competition conducted by the Yoga Association of Ernakulam held at Govt.Model High School, Muvattupuzha, DurgaS, Chinmayi Mukundan, Akhila Kishore, Krishnapriya and Chaithanya secured the First prize in Free Flow Yoga Dance. Durga and Chinmayi won the Second prize for Artistic Pair Yoga.
Aiswarya S of Class VII secured the first prize in Yoga District Inter School Checkers Tournament in the under 14 girls category. She also won the second prize in the Catholica Congress, Elamakkara, Ernakulam Checkers Tournament.
In the 62nd Dr Tony Daniel Memorial District Meet, our school team secured the 1st prize for the 4x100 mts relay in the Under 14 Boys category. The team members were Muhammed Sayan, Ashwat K Anil, Jubin Sibi and Philip Jobi of Class VIII.
Jubin Sibi bagged the Silver medal for High Jump in the Under 14 Boys category. In the Under 16 Boys category 800 mts race,Abhiram P Ashok won the Bronze medal.In the Under 16 Girls category the following students won prizes. Krishnapriya S bagged the Silver medal for the 800 mts race.Aneeta Ginu secured the 2nd prize for High Jump. Angel Tony won the 2nd prize for Discuss Throw and 3rd prize for Javelin Throw. In the Under 18 Girls category Asna Elias Sait won the third prize for both Discuss Throw and Javelin Throw.
In the 23rd Cluster XI CBSE Athletic Meet Held at Labour India Public School, Marangattupilly, Kottayam, the following students won various prizes.
In the Under 14 boys category, Philip Joby won the Bronze medal in the 100 m race. Ashwat K Anil secured the Bronze medal in the Long Jump andin the 4x100 m Relay, our school team secured the Silver medal. The team members were Philip Jobi, Jubin Sibi, Nazim V A, Muhammed Zayan and Ashwat K Anil.In the Under 14 Girls category, Pavithra A Menon won the Bronze medal in the 800 m race.In the Under 17 Girls category, Serene Stewert won the Bronze medal in Shot Put. Angel Tony bagged the Gold medal in Javelin Throw. She also secured a meet record of 26.75 m and was qualified to the National Meet.In the Under 19 Boys category, Mohammed Amaan secured the Gold medal in Discuss Throw and was qualified to the National Meet. Asna and Aneeta won the fourth position for Discus Throw and Long Jump respectively.
In the CBSE National Athletic Meet 2018-19 held at Smt Parvathamma Shamanu Shivashankarappa English Medium Residential School, Davangiri, Angel Tony of Class X secured the 5th position in Javelin Throw and Mohammed Amaan of Class XII won the 10th position in Discus Throw.
In the 36th All Kerala Inter School Dr.K.M. Munshi Memorial CBSE Athletic Meet organised by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra held on December 11th and 12th at BVM Eroor, we bagged the fifth position with 123.5 points.We were adjudged the Group Champions in the Under 14 boys category with 42.5 points and Under 19 girls category with 48 points. Apsara K secured the Silver medal for Long Jump in the Sub junior girls category. Jubin Sibi bagged Silver medals for High Jump and 600 m race, Bronze medal for Long Jump in the Junior boys category.
Mohammed Zayan won the Bronze medal for High Jump in the Under 14 boys category. Nazim V N secured the Gold medal for Long Jump in the Under 14 boys category.
Angel Tony secured the Gold medal for Discus throw, Silver medal for Javelin throw and Bronze medal for Shotput.
Aneeta Ginu won the Silver medal for High jump in the Senior girls category.
Philip Joby won the Bronze medal for the 100 m race in the Junior boys category.
Abhiram P Ashok won the third position for 1500 m race in the Senior boys category.
We secured two Gold medals in the Relay events. The team members of the 400 m Relay Under 14 boys category are Jubin Sibi, Nazim V N,Mohammed Zayan and Philip Joby. Ashwat K Anil and Aditya Suresh were the sub-runners. The team members of the 400 m Relay Under 19 girls category are Angel Tony, Aneeta Ginu, Caroline Mendez and Varsha M Prabhu.
 In the IX All Kerala Inter-School Bhavan’s Games held at Kozhikode , we lifted the Runner up trophy for Football in the Under 14 and Under 19 category.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       
The team members of the Under 19 category Football team were Rahul Manoj,Sidharth V Suresh, GeorgeThomas, AdithyaKrishnan, Abhiram P Ashok,Anand M S,Shiv Shankar M,Mohammed Sahil J S,Mohammed Sabah,Rishikesh Rajesh,Swagath Krishna,Mukund Krishna, Ashwin Suresh and Abhishek Patil.
The team members of the Under 14 category Football team were Abhinav V N,Ahsan AlAmeer, Adhil Sultan Shafeeq,Niranjan Suresh,Gautham P Nair,Vasu Sucheendran,Chinmay Raghav,Bharath Gopalakrishnan,Jubin Siby,Philip Joby,Ashwath K Anil,Anand Manoj, Joseph, Nazim V A and M Sidharthan.
Sidharth V Suresh was adjudged as the top scorer and Rahul Manoj as the best goal keeper.   
In the K.K.Premachandran Memorial Mini Athletic Championship 2018-19,Apsara.K of Class VI secured the first prize in the Long Jump Under 12 girls category  . Our team bagged the second prize in the 4x100m Relay Under 12 girls category. The team members were Apsara.K (VI),Rajarajeswary(V),Afreen Shakeel(V)and Gayathri.R(VI).      
In Chess, Anand M S of Class X bagged the Gold medal in the Under 19 category and Aadinath Harilal of Class III secured the Silver medal.
In Roller Skating Lakshmi B Menon of Class VII secured the Gold medal, Snehal P S of Class VI bagged Silver medals in 1000 and 500.Kifah of Class VII won Bronze medals in 1000 and 500.
Chinmayi Mukundan of Class IX, received the National gold medal, in Kai sub junior National Karate Championship-2018.
In the 9th Shobukai’s Open National Karate Championship 2018 Samika Ren won the third position in Individual Kata in the 11-12 years category girls.
Chinmayi Mukundan of class IX made us proud when she was selected to the Indian Karate team for the under 15 category Common Wealth Games which was held at South Africa on November 27th.
In the Inter School Karate Championship organised by Karate Association of India, the following students have won various prizes. Aaron Abraham of Class VI won the gold medal in the Individual Katha, Silver medal for Group Katha and third position for Kumite. Adityadev M P of Class VI secured the gold medal in the Individual Katha and Kumite. M P Suryagayathri of Class IV won the Gold medal for Individual Katha, Samika Ren of Class VII and Chinmayi Mukundan of Class IX won the Bronze medal for the same.
In the 5th Bhavan’s News print cup-All Kerala Inter School Karate, the following students secured various prizes. For individual Kata, Vignesh P Nair of class II bagged the first prize. Zaima Asif of class VI won the first prize, Ananya Premchand of class VI won the second prize, Yadukrishna of class V won the third prize, Aaryan A Aravind of class IX secured the first prize and Sourav Pradeep of class 9 won the third prize. In the Group Kata, Aditya Sujesh, Sourav Pradeep and Mohammed Yousuf secured the first prize. Aryan A Aravind, Akhib Lehan and Akshay R Nair won the second prize for Group Kata.
In the Chess competition conducted by Kochi Municipal Corporation and Chess Association, Shreya P C received a Certificate of Merit and secured 3rd position.
In the All Kerala Interschool PNB Varuna Chess Tournament, Anand M S has secured the third position in the High school category, Aravind M S has won the 19th position in the UP category. In the LP category, Sreenath A won the 12th position and Dan Paul Jacob won the 14th position for the same.
In ‘Chess in School Tournament’ conducted by The Hindu, Anand M S secured the 5th position and Krishnaraj  won the 10th position in the Under 15 category.
In the MMPS Alumni Sevens Football Tournament at Mary Matha Public School, our team has bagged the runners-up trophy. The team members are Rahul Manoj, Adithya Krishnan, Jopaul K, Abhiram P Ashok, Steeve James Roy, Mohammed Sahil, Sidharth V Suresh, George Thomas, Rishikesh Rajesh, Shivshankar, Ananth M S and Midhun.
We ,the host team of the three-day long Adarsha Cup,Inter-School Soccer Tournament emerged as the winner.
Archana Varghese of Class X got selection in the State Badminton team. She also won the Under 17 and Under 19 Doubles final and secured the Junior State Championship which was conducted at the Jimmy George Indoor Stadium, Trivandrum.
In the District Badminton tournament conducted by RSC, Deetya Nair of Class VI A won the runners up for junior doubles girls. She also won a cash prize of Rs 500/-.
In the CBSE cluster XI interschool Kho-Kho competition 2018 held at MGM Public School, Varkala, our school team secured the second runner up in the under-17 girls category. The team members are Sana Khalid (X), Sara A (X), Gouri Nandana G (X), Devanandhana Praveen (X), Serene Stewert (X), KrishnaPriya (IX), Athira M (VIII), Indulekha Lal (VIII), Ann Maria Stephen (VIII), Atheetha Sunil (VIII) and Nandhana Menon T A (VIII).
 Bhavan’s Vidyamandir, Elamakkara conducted Quizzically Pratheeksha. Gowri.S.Pisharady and Amal Nambiar secured the first prize, with a cash award of Rs.2000/- in Enguizard-English quiz.
Quitzify Seniors, Jeevan Joseph and Adithya Anil won the third prize , with a cash award of Rs.1000.
We got the third prize for the Science Quiz ‘Odysseus’ held at Rajagiri Public School.
In the Aqua Regia Science Quiz 2018, conducted by TIME, Samuel Joy Padamadan and Jeevan Joseph were adjudged the winners and received a cash prize of Rs 5000/- and a trophy. They also received a gift voucher from BTH Sarovaram for a family dining and bicycles from Max City.
In the Manorama Big Q Challenge, Jeevan Joseph secured the 6th position in the final
Srinidhi B and Aryan P Nair were qualified for the finals of Lions Quiz Bowl held at Rajagiri Public School, Kalamassery with the highest points.
In the Wild Wisdom City Level Competition, the following students won prizes.
In the Middle School Level, Srinidhi S secured the first prize and Aditya Narayan won the second prize.
In the Primary School Level, Vasudev Gopinath Pai secured the first position and Bharath Satheesan won the second position.
We were the winners of the All Kerala Inter School Quiz, ‘Indiannica Learning,Know for Sure Quiz’ .
In the Inter-School Maths Quiz Genius 2019 held at Bhavan’s Newsprint Vidyalaya,Velloor,our school team secured the 1st prize with a cash award of Rs 2000/-.The team members were Keerthi and Niranjan Warrier. In the same competition,our team comprising Sreenidhi and Adithya Anil Nambiar won the 2nd prize and a cash prize of            Rs 1500/-.
Our school team comprising Aryan P Nair and Niranjan Warrier bagged the 1st position in the Odyssia Smart Brain Quiz conducted in the district level.
In the Inter-School Mathematics Quiz conducted by Cochin Refineries School,our team secured the first position.The team members were Keerthi .V. Nair and Vijay Krishnan V.V .
In the Mega Final of Q League Quiz competition our school team comprising Jeevan Joseph,Adithya Anil and Samuel Joy Padamadan bagged the second position with a cash prize of Rs 25,000/-
As part of Cultural Exchange Programme, we could realise our dream of commencing an exchange programme with Bhavan’s Bhagawandas Purohit Vidya Mandir, Nagpur .
A few of our students participated in the IX National Integration Camp which was held at Bhavan’s SL Public School, Amritsar, Punjab.
Bhasha Sangam, a programme under ’ Ek Bharath Sreshta Sangam ‘ was initiated to celebrate the spirit of National Integration. This initiative is to familiarise students with 22 Indian languages scheduled in the Indian Constitution. Teachers and students introduced these languages and familiarised them to others in the morning assembly.
Our school has secured the Mathrubhumi Special Jury Award for contribution towards Social Welfare.
The Sanskriti club of our school aims to help the ill, needy and vulnerable by giving them a helping hand when they face the challenges of life. The activities of the club began with a motivational talk by Mr. Vijay Menon a philanthropist. The club launched ‘ Pidiyari’ project to donate rice to indigent people. To mention a few,provisions were supplied to nearby relief camps,Food Fest was conducted to raise fund to donate to the cancer patients in General Hospital,Ernakulam , psychiatric medicines were provided to tribal patients and our students visited autistic children of Puthiyakavu Ayurveda Hospital and provided medicines worth 5000/-.
Students of Class XII visited ‘Mridulasparsham’ at Karingachira, a charitable institution run for the benefit of the mentally disabled.
A Kitchen for the Relief of Flood Victims started functioning in our school canteen. The Bhavan’s ideal, ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’- The World is One Family was revitalized and perceived when grandparents, former students, well-wishers, residents of our nearby locality, parents, our own students ,teaching and non-teaching staff came under one single roof to cook and serve  breakfast, lunch and dinner for 7,500 victims per day till the 21st of August. Kits containing toothbrush, toothpaste,  soaps, sanitary napkins, mats, bed sheets, clothing, water bottles  and medicines worth Rs. 40,000/- were despatched to various relief camps. Also, timely delivery of non-perishable food like wheat, flour, rice, oil, pulses, salt and sugar were taken into due consideration.An amount of Rs. 10,00000/- towards Flood Relief fund collected by Bhavan’s Group of Institutions ,Kochi was handed over to the Dist. Collector, Muhammed Y Safirulla .
The staff volunteered to contribute their one-day salary in addition to the students’ contribution to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Another amount of 10,000 was also donated towards relief fund. Besides these, the school bus was a great relief to the victims in and around Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Eroor.
An amount of Rs 7804/- was collected as part of the Food Fest,a fundraising event conducted by students of Classes XI and XII which would be donated to the cancer patients at General Hospital, Ernakulam.
Some of our teachersvisited ailing patients in and around Kochi as a part of the palliative care programme.
The clubs and houses encourage students to participate in various programmes and activities and widen their horizon and experience which is more important for their all round development.
Students from Grade I to Grade XII are equally divided and enrolled in eight houses namely Ahimsa, Dharmam, Jnanam,Satyam,Sevanam,Shanthi,Thyagam and Vinayam respectively and are motivated to participate in the various Intra-School Competitions so as to project their talents and skills.
This year the Club was inaugurated by  Sanal Potty,media fame.The various clubs like Science,Mathematics and Quiz club encourage students to participate in various InterSchool exhibitions and competitions while Nature club,Literary and Dramatics club,Sanskriti club,Health and Wellness club and Integrity club foster activities that encourage social commitment.
The members of the Seed and Nature Clubs visited one of the flood affected schools, St.Philominas L.P School, Koonammavu and handed over the essential learning materials to the students.
Our school has been awarded in recognition of our strong commitment towards the Seed project during the academic year 2017-18 in the Aluva Education district for our contribution towards environment protection.
To ensure that our students are well equipped with knowledge to face any challenge in their life, we organized many programmes.
A Career Launch Programme was conducted for class XII students of the Commerce stream.
A talk by Shri Vijay Menon was held for the students of Classes XI and XII.
An Awareness Programme regarding student’s safety was organised at Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad by the Motor Vehicle Department for the Principals’ and Managers of CBSE Schools in the Ernakulam District .
Shri. Mohammed Y Safeerulla, the District Collector Ernakulam inaugurated the function and addressed the gathering. The Ernakulam RTOs Shri. K M Shaji and Shri.Reji P Varghese, Asst Narcotic’s Commissioner Shri. Krishna Kumar Motor Vehicles inspector Shri Dileep Kumar and All Kerala CBSE management representative Smt Indira Rajan stressed on the importance of the role of teachers in students ‘ safety. Shri E Ramankutty, Director Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra, presided over the function.

Students of Class XI attended to a talk on Child Abuse by Ms. Aneeda Latheef, BA, LLM, practising lawyer and notary, former Vice Chairman of Kalamassery Municipality.
The students of Class XI attended to a talk on the topic ‘GST and its impact on Indian Economy’ by Sri Kasinath.
Students of Classes IX and X attended to a talk by Sri Vijay Menon.
Students of Classes VII to XI attended a workshop on Scrabble which was organised byCollins Scrabble School India.
Students of Classes VI and VII attended INTACH, an art workshop at Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mattanchery.  
Our school conducted a   workshop on Robotics .Sri Anoop Mathew,Academic Consultant,Naxt Education,was the Resource person.Ten students each from  BVV Thrikkakara,BVM,Elamakkara and our team participated in the workshop.                                             
Going beyond the classroom walls and textbooks ……comprehending the wonders that are beyond the syllabus and to gain first-hand knowledge and experience, various tours and field trips were organised.
The students of Class XI D went on a Field Trip to Fort Kochi.
A few students visited the International Book Fair and Art Exhibition at Ernakulam.
Students of Class I and Class IIwent on a picnic to Lulu mall, Edapally.
Students of Class X visited Munnar.
Students of class XII visited Isha Foundation,Coimbatore.
The students of Class III ,IV and V visited Marine Aquarium and Museum, Naval Museum and Fort Kochi Park.
Sri K Suresh, Principal and Ms Kalyani N P, Vice Principal lit the traditional lamp and inaugurated the Wall Mural Art at the main stage. Students actively participated in creating murals under the able guidance of Ms Sujatha Suresh, Dept of Fine Arts.
The renovated auditorium, an eye pleasing and well-tuned space for future performances and events was inaugurated by Sri E Ramankutty, Director, BVB, Kochi Kendra.
The Cricket pitch and Table Tennis Court was inaugurated by Sri Tinu Yohannan, former Cricketer of Indian cricket team.Sri Venugopal C Govind, Chairman BVB, Kochi Kendra and Sri E Ramankutty, Director, BVB, Kochi Kendra were also present.
Celebrations and events in Adarsha have become an integral part of learning, community building and is a thought provoking process for the students. National festivals and other important days are celebrated with great enthusiasm, dedication, and pride. Along with fun and enthusiasm, the qualities of simplicity, sensitivity and creativity are highlighted among the students.As part of the same, Praveshanotsav, The World Environment Day and The International Day of Yoga were celebrated in the month of June. The Ramayana Week set the pace for the celebrations. To add more to it, different programmes and activities were conducted in connection with various celebrations.
Programmes in connection with Vanamahotsav were held. Saplings were given to the class representatives of class 5, 6 and 7.
A house-wise chart making competition was conducted in connection with The World Conservation Day.
 Quit India Day was observed with various programmes.
Mathematics Department observed National Mathematics Day-Ganith Uthsav. The programme was sponsored by Kerala State Council for research, technology and education supported by the Department of Science and Technology Gov. of India.
 The Independence Day was celebrated with much fervour. The celebration culminated with variety of programmes.
The school celebrated ‘Janmashtami’. Students from the primary classes, dressed as ‘Radha and Krishna’, performed a wonderful dance programme
A special assembly was conducted by teachers in connection with Teacher’s Day. Shri M K Sanu was the Chief Guest of the day. Gurudakshina was offered to the guests by the Principal, Vice Principal and senior teachers. Class X students honoured the teachers by offering Gurudakshina.
Various activities and competitions were conducted in connection with the 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s speech at Chicago.
Grand Parents’ Day was celebrated to strengthen the unique bond between kids and their grandparents.
Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated with patriotic fervour.  Students sang patriotic songs.  A campus cleaning drive was conducted.An exhibition was also conducted as part of the same.
The students of class IX A and IX B presented a skit in connection with the World Students’ Day – Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s Birthday.
Navarathri Celebration was held at T.D Road.  Around 90 students from various classes staged the dance drama Sree Mookambika Charitham and rendered “Saraswati Bhajans”.
Sports day was inaugurated by Sri Tinu Yohannan, former Cricketer, Indian Team. There was a band display by the school band followed by March Past, a presentation of Kerala History which exhibited the ethos of Kerala culture. Students also showcased their talents in yoga display, aerobics and karate.
In connection with Kerala Piravi celebrations, NaagaTheyyam, an ancient ritualistic form of worship which is a blend of dance, music and fervent devotion was performed in the main auditorium. The staff and students offered Dakshina.
Programmes were held in connection with Founder’s day.
Children’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm. A fancy dress competition was organised for the students of Classes I to V .The enthusiasm and zeal with which the children participated and performed were commendable.
The school celebrated Christmas in a grand manner with a live crib and Christmas tree set up by staff and students.Rev Father Dr Varghese Puthussery, the Chief Guest of the day addressed the gathering and delivered the Christmas message.
Days of National and International importance such as National Literacy Day, World First Aid Day, Hindi Divas, Muharam, Diwali Air Force Day and  National Integration Day were also observed. As part of observing the  Constitution Day , a documentary on the life and contributions of Dr Ambedkar was shown.
Vayanakalari was inaugurated.  Sri E Ramankutty, Director, BVB, Kochi Kendra inaugurated the function. Malayala Manorama and Alphons Kannanthanam Academy joined hands in sponsoring the monthly subscription of Manorama.
Malayala Manorama Balajana Saghyam was inaugurated.
 Our school played host to organise  Gurbani Sangeet from Punjab by Dr. Alankar Singh & team.
The staff and students were entranced by ‘Puraliya Chau’ , a traditional Indian dance form with martial,tribal and folk origins of Odisha,Jharkhand and West Bengal. The dance form which was jointly organised by BVB, Kochi Kendra and Spic Macay was performed by
Sri Tarapada Rajakhand and his crew.
With an intention to motivate children to nurture good communication skill, we implementedsome initiatives like Debate Club, MUN etc.in the school.The debates conducted help the students to develop their oracy skills. Model United Nations (MUN), is an educational simulation of what happens in the United Nations. Bhavan’s Adarsha has a well knit MUN team which has brought many laurels to the school. The team participates in IIMUN, RMUN, BMUN and other prestigious MUNs across India. The team could also launch the first edition of In- house MUN on Nov16th. Mr. VargheseJohn, Principal, Bhavan’s College of Arts and Commerce inaugurated the same.In the IIMUN,conducted at Choice School,Thripunithura,our MUN team members bagged the delegate awards.The members were Adithya Anoop , DevNarayana and Sravya . Negha,Aryan .P.Nair and Souparnika V.P got verbal mentions.
 The school supports and motivates the team by arranging orientationprogrammes at regular intervals. Being a delegate helpsour students   learn real-life skills such as public speaking, debating, critical thinking, leadership abilities, teamwork, time management, researching and much more.
It’s a matter of great pride for us to announce that our students Chinmayi Mukundan (IX) represented India in the Common Wealth Games and Archana Varghese(X) represented Kerala in the National Badminton Championship. They were felicitated on Children’s Day for their prestigious accomplishments.
No person was ever honoured for what he received. Honour has been the reward for what he gave.
Ms.D Mary Sorna Rani,Dept of Chemistry was conferred the coveted ‘CBSE Award for the Best Teacher’ for the year 2017-18  which  comprised a Certificate of Commendation,                  Rs 50,000/- and a Shawl.
In the Indo Srilankan Karate Championship 2018, Mr. K V Babu,Karate Instructor won the gold medal in the Masters Katha . His biography was published in ‘Athulya Prathibha’ , a book authored by Sri.Kottayam Baburaj.
The school PTA has been extremely supportive and has taken great initiative in all the activities of the school.It helps build a strong working relationship among the teachers,the parents and the school.
PTA of this year,under the strong leadership of President Mr V J Oommen organised outreach programmes, talks and awareness programmes for students.
The parents of Class XI attended to a session on ‘Parenting and Child Psychology’ by Sri Siju Thottappilly.
The cricket pitch and the table tennis court were inaugurated.
The PTA also shared the expense of the The Wall Mural Art at the main stage.
The timely assistance and co-operation of our PTA revitalized the Bhavan’s ideal, ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’- The World is One Family when we all joined hands for the Flood Relief activities.They also donated two lakhs for the construction of houses for the victims.
In keeping with the school’s policy of continuous upgradation of knowledge and skills, our teachers attended various workshops and seminars organized by the school and others so as to improve their academic transaction skills and to update their capabilities.
Sri K Suresh, Principal participated in the IX All Indian Conference for Principals of Bhavan’s Secondary and Sr Secondary Schools,’Generating Leaders with Vision, Mission and Passion’ which was scheduled for four days at Bhavan’s Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir,Srikrishna Nagar,Nagpur.
Ms Kalyani N P, Vice Principal attended a workshop on ETST which was scheduled for one week at Panchgani.
Sri K Suresh, Principal and Ms Kalyani N P,Vice Principal attended a Round Table Conference  with Dr Sudhakar Varanasi ,architect of 108 emergency services at Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya .
The in-house subject specific training for teachers was conducted in different venues.
The teachers of various departments attended a workshop on ‘Soft Skills for Primary Teachers’ by Sri Balachandran Gopinathanat BVB, TD Road.
A few teachers of the English department attended a workshop on Soft Skills by Dr Rangarajan Gopalakrishnan at Bhavan’s Munshi Vidyashram , Thiruvamkulam.
The Teachers of the English department attended a workshop conducted by the Orient Black Swan at the same venue.Smt. Radhika Karthikeyan was the resource person .
Teachers from various Departments attended a workshop on Innovations in School Education/Sustainability of Branding by Dr.Nirmala Krishnan at BVB,T.D.road office.
Ms Vineetha V Nair, Department of English and Ms Rekha M Department of Hindi attended a two day workshop on Awakened Citizen programme conducted by Sree Ramakrishna Mission at BVM, Elamakkara.
Mrs Sujatha Suresh, Mrs.Mini D Kunjappu, Mrs Susan Phelsi and Mr Vivekanad R of the Department of Work Experience attended a Workshop by Smt Usha Kamal at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, T.D road office.
Ms Lekha, Resource teacher attended a workshop conducted by Thrikkakara Lion’s Club and Little Flower Hospital, Angamaly. The resource persons were Dr Jyothsna and Dr Joyce.
Ms Pavana, Resource teacher attended a workshop on ‘Child Right and POCSO Act ‘conducted by the Ministry of Child Welfare, Gov. of Kerala. The resource person was Adv. Suresh Thonnakkal.
Ms. Sudha Varma and Ms. Deepa Varghese, Dept. of Commerce attended a three-day workshop on Accountancy at Bhavan’s Vidyalaya, Panchkula, Haryana.

Ms Bindu M T and Ms Jyothirmayee attended the INTACH workshop, a two-day workshop on heritage at T D Road.
Ms Rema S, Dept. of English attended a two day Capacity Building Programme in English language and literature which was conducted by CBSE. Ms Prathibha, Principal, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala and Mr Vishnu Satheesh, Principal, Navodaya Vidyalaya, Neriyamangalam were the resource persons.
Ms. Mini M and Ms Soumya P Antony, Teachers of BAV, Kakkanad attended the CBSE Workshop.
Mr Arun Varghese George, School Counsellor attended a workshop on ‘Counselling Skills’ for  teachers and counsellors conducted by Kerala Counsellors Forum which was held at Santhwana Institute of Counselling and psychotherapy,Kacheripadi,Ernakulam.The
resource persons were Dr Prema A K,Prof Lazar Thomas, A S Shenoy and Dr Varghese Puthussery.

Ms Sreekaladevi, Department of Mathematics attended a workshop conducted by Goyal Brothers Prakasan at YMCA, Ernakulam. The resource persons were Dr. Anupriya Pandya and Sri Dhrumin Pandya.Ms Praseeda P.P and Ms Shereen Joseph Sebastian, Department of English attended a workshop on ABCD of English Language teaching - Acknowledge, Build, Create and Develop organised by Macmillan at Al-Ameen Public School, Edapally. The resource person was Mrs. Kayser Patel.
Ms Soumya K S, Department of Science attended a workshop on Biology based on ‘Human Eye ‘at Institute of Engineers, Pullepady.The resource person was Dr Philip Mathew.
Ms. Kalpana, Department of Science attended a refresher course in Physics (Secondary and Senior Secondary) at Institute of Engineers, Pullepady.The resource person was Dr T R Ananthakrishnan.
 Teachers of the English department of Bhavan’s Kochi Kendra attended a workshop on ‘A Creative Approach in Learning’ by Smt Geetha Krishnan organised by Orient Blackswan.
Senior teachers and HODs attended a motivational workshop which covered key aspects of effective teaching strategies, self-esteem and personal development, diagnosing learning difficulties in children, communication styles and teacher-parent relationship at Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara.
Ms Suja, Department of Computer Science attended a workshop on Experience and Knowledge, Transforming Computer Teaching and Cyber Safety at Radisson Blue, Kadavanthra.The resource person was Dheeraj Bhatia.
Ms Mary Sorna, Dept. of Chemistry attended a meeting as a caretaker at 21 Kerala Bn NCC office, Ernakulam.
Ms Mini, Department of English attended a Capacity Building Programme which was scheduled for two days at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala .The resource persons were Ms Parvathy E, Principal, BNV, Velloor and Ms Prathiba V, Principal, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala.
The school conducts health check-up every year for classes I –XII. This year a team of doctors from Amrita Hospital conducted the medical check-up for our students. The check-up included oral,eye and general examination. De-worming medicine was administered to the students on National Deworming Day.
As the school library plays a great role by serving as the store house of knowledge,we have a full-fledged library in the school.There is also an open kids library for the primary students which can be used during their leisure time.
Library Week was celebrated this year in agrand manner.As part of it, variousprogrammes were conducted by Departments of English, Malayalam, Hindi and Sanskrit. A three day book fair by DC Books was also conducted. Students actively participated in book- mark making ,story writing and book jacket designing competitions.
With the objective of transforming students into an informed and knowledgeable group by cultivating the habit of reading newspaper,NIE programme is being conducted in the school.Student Edition of  Times of India is supplied to classes 6 and 7 and The Hindu to classes 8,9 and 10.NIE sessions are held regularly for the students of classes 8,9 and 10 by the faculty members of The Hindu.
Around 50 students from Classes VIII and IX  have enrolled in the NCC wing of our school.The wing belongs to 21 Kerala Battalion.It has been training the children in various life skill activities which the students can pursue to add to their learning and aptitude.
Children who require special care are provided with full support and guidance by our resource teachers.
On behalf of Adarsha fraternity, may I take this opportunity to express my profound gratitude to The Chairman, The Director, Management committee members of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, School Management committee, PTA and all other stake holders for their never ending faith and valuable advices which helped our endeavours to bring about quality education and prestige for our institution. We venture to scale greater heights on our voyage to reach the pinnacle of success with perseverance and truth.
In conclusion, I thank God Almighty, the omnipotent for incessantly showering His blessings upon us.
